Providence Rhode Island Lay Dominicans #106

About Us

Members of the Fraternities of St. Dominic are lay men and women who are fully incorporated members of the Order of Preachers and live out their Dominican vocation in the world. Through the Four Pillars of prayer, study, community, and apostolate we work to preach the Gospel and grow in personal holiness. You can learn more about the Lay Dominican life here:

Dominican Spirituality

Dominican Spirituality calls members to certain obligations, when possible according to their state in life, which include:

  • Participating in daily Mass
  • Daily praying some portions of the Liturgy of the Hours, with a minimum component of Morning and Evening Prayer
  • Daily recitation of the Rosary
  • Daily reading and reflecting on Sacred Scripture
  • Monthly reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation
  • Frequent and ongoing study of matters pertaining to the Church, the world, and their apostolate
  • An annual retreat, either on their own or with other members of the Fraternity

Our Apostolate

Our lay Dominican apostolate for Our Lady of Providence/ St Thomas Aquinas is about supporting unwed mothers with their following agenda.

Daily assistance is what we provide to pregnant women who come to us in this abortion-minded culture, as we offer them free personal counseling, ultrasound sonograms, and continual support throughout their pregnancy. Of course, we also continue helping and guiding our clients toward making healthy life choices, while providing them with much material assistance for their newborn child, as well as parenting classes.  It is your generous support, hours of volunteering and fervent prayers that allow us to continue serving so many young women in need. We are truly grateful for your continued kindness and generosity. Please be assured of our ongoing prayers for your special intentions, and our unwavering commitment to serve Our Lord in this profound ministry, through His Holy Mother Mary.
